You will find playgrounds among palm trees is an ongoing series of interactive sculptures inspired by the need to cultivate platforms for play. The project draws formal and technical inspiration from threading hairstyles, botanical forms, and driving directions from navigation applications, among other references. The series considers many histories of communicative hairstyles, from Victorian hair work to the supposed history of enslaved Colombians braiding escape routes into their hairstyles. Rendered in cast bronze and galvanised steel piping wrapped in twine, the composed, unique bars seek to uncover new possibilities for play and interaction in public space.
