Artist’s statement
Five sculptures, each carrying a loudspeaker, perch in the seating stands at Tafawa Balewa Square. A poem by Duygu Ağals is recited repeatedly by different voices, accompanied by the sound of a power generator. These combinations raise various questions that prompt reflection. Who are we listening to in this installation? What characteristics are assigned to each voice, and what happens when not everything is understood?
Nina Emge’s work is included in Gregarious architectures.
